MP Braid was thrilled to meet with members of Rush, the iconic Canadian rock band, in the House of Commons today.
Rush recently received the prestigious Governor General’s Performing Arts Award in recognition of their musical achievements, which include ranking third in the world (after The Beatles and The Rolling Stones) for most consecutive gold or platinum studio albums by a rock band.
Lee, Lifeson, and Peart were also made Officers of the Order of Canada in 1996 – the first band ever honoured by such an appointment (look closely at their left lapels!). The Officer of the Order of Canada recognizes a lifetime of achievement and merit of a high degree, especially in service to Canada or to humanity at large.
